韓伯俞有過。其母笞之泣。母曰。他日未甞泣。今何泣也。對曰他日俞得笞常痛。今母力衰不能使痛。是以泣也。
When Han Boyu committed a fault, his mother caned him and he wept. His mother said, 'In former days you never wept; why do you weep now?' He replied, 'In former days when Yu was caned, it always pained me. Today mother's strength has declined and she cannot make it hurt; that is why I weep.'
