The Guanzi states: 'When a dried-up marsh has lasted several hundred years, and within the valley water neither flows nor is exhausted, it produces the qingji. The qingji has the form of a human, four inches tall, dressed in a yellow cap, bearing a yellow canopy, riding a small horse, and fond of galloping swiftly. If one calls it by its name, it can be sent a thousand li away; another name for it is the fanbao.' Thus, might the apparition at Chiyang perhaps have been the qingji?
