Furthermore, the Madhyama-āgama says: 'At that time, the World-Honoured One told the monks: "There are seven things desired by enemies that make them act as enemies. First, not wishing their enemy to have a handsome appearance: even if bathed well and anointed with fine fragrances, yet because of appearance, anger covers their mind and they act as an enemy. Second, not wishing their enemy to sleep peacefully: even though lying on a bed and pillow covered with brocade and silk, yet they do not let go of sorrow and distress; anger covers their mind and they act as an enemy. Third, not wishing their enemy to gain great profit: even when profit should be obtained, they do not obtain it, or what should not be obtained is obtained; these two things mutually conflict, anger covers their mind, and they act as an enemy. Fourth, not wishing their enemy to have friends: if there are close friends, they abandon and avoid them; because anger covers their mind, they act as an enemy. Fifth, not wishing their enemy to have renown: their bad reputation and ugly voice are heard all around in various directions; because anger covers their mind, they act as an enemy. Sixth, not wishing their enemy to have great wealth: that very wealthy person unexpectedly loses wealth and goods; because anger covers their mind, they act as an enemy. Seventh, not wishing their enemy, upon the destruction of the body and the end of life, to go to a good place: after doing evil deeds of body, speech, and mind, at the end of life they will surely go to an evil place and be born in hell, and thus act as an enemy."'”
