爾時佛告諸比丘言。汝諸比丘。欲知彼時入水龜者我身是也。華鬘師者魔波旬是。其於爾時欲誑惑於我而不能著。今復欲誑何由可得。

At that time, the Buddha addressed the monks: Monks, if you wish to know who the turtle that entered the water at that time was, it was myself. The garland-maker was Māra Pāpīyān. In that past time he wished to deceive and delude me but could not succeed; now wishing to deceive me again, how could it be possible?
