Now, as for the wisdom of the three clear knowledges, the hundred spirits cannot compare with its thoroughness; as for the supremacy of the ten powers, a thousand sages are not sufficient to match its greatness. The myriad delusions are exhausted, and the myriad virtues are complete. Brahmā looks up to him, and Śakra takes him as master. His path rescues the four kinds of born beings, and his transformation pervades the three realms. He uproots them from the cycle of birth and death, and reveals nirvāṇa of constant bliss. The Duke of Zhou and Confucius are not even sufficient to be compared with him. As for ‘widely conferring benefits upon the people and aiding the multitude,’ even Yao and Shun still found it difficult. Extending equal compassion and abandoning no creature—can this not be called benevolence? Endowed with wisdom and possessing wondrous enlightenment—can this not be called sagacity?
