十三依仙公起居注云。于時生在葛尚書家。尚書年逾八十。始有一子。時有沙門自稱天竺僧。於市大買香。市人怪問僧曰。我昨夜夢見善思菩薩下生葛尚書家。吾將此香浴之。到生時。僧至燒香。右繞七匝。禮拜恭敬。沐浴而止。

13. According to the Diary of the Immortal Lord (Xian gong qiju zhu): At that time, [Ge Xuan] was born into the family of Minister of the Imperial Secretariat Ge. The minister was over eighty years old when he had his first son. At the time, there was a śramaṇa who called himself an Indian monk, who was buying large amounts of incense in the marketplace. The people of the market questioned the monk with astonishment. The monk said, "Last night I saw in a dream that Bodhisattva Shansi had descended to be born in the house of Minister of the Imperial Secretariat Ge. I will use this incense to bathe him." When the time of birth arrived, the monk arrived, burned incense, circumambulated him seven times to the right, bowed with reverence, bathed him, and only then stopped.
