56.13

佛告比丘。欲知彼時同邑人者。今此一百比丘是。由於彼誓願力故。九十一劫不墮三塗。天上人中常共同生受天快樂。乃至今者遭值於我。故復同生出家得道。比丘聞已歡喜奉行。

The Buddha told the monks, "If you wish to know who the villagers of that time were, they are these one hundred monks. Due to the power of that vow, for ninety-one kalpas they did not fall into the three miserable destinies; among devas and humans they were always born together, enjoying heavenly bliss, until today when they met me; therefore, they were again born together, left the household life, and attained the Way." Having heard this, the monks rejoiced and put it into practice.
