57.50

於他無害心　瞋亦不纏結
懷恨不經久　於瞋以不住
雖復瞋恚盛　不發於麁言
不求彼制節　揚人之虛短
常當自防護　以義內省察
不怒亦不虛　常與賢聖共
若與惡人俱　剛強猶山石
盛恚能自持　如制逸馬車
我說為善師　非謂執繩者

"Bear no harmful mind toward others, / and let not anger become entwined. / Harbor not resentment for long, / and do not dwell in anger. / Though anger should flare up intensely, / do not utter harsh words; / do not seek to control them, / nor publicize another's false shortcomings. / One should always guard oneself, / introspecting internally by means of righteousness. / Neither being enraged nor being deceptive, / always associate with the worthy and holy. / If one associates with evil persons, / their obstinacy is like mountain rocks. / One who can restrain fierce anger / is like one who controls a runaway horse-drawn chariot; / I call him a good driver, / not meaning one who simply holds the reins."
