As a sūtra states: Just as thoroughbreds, qilin, phoenixes, peacocks, parrots, wild fowl, and painted pheasants are treasured by humans and affectionately cherished, while macaques, dholes, wolves, tigers, rhinos, vipers, horned owls, and owls are despised by people who dislike hearing their cries, so the array of the beautiful and the ugly is difficult to exhaust. The noble and the base can thus be known, and cannot be recounted in full.
