范曄後漢書曰。永寧元年。西南夷禪國王詣闕。獻樂及幻人。能變化吐火自支解易牛馬頭。明年元會在廷作。安帝與群臣共觀大奇之。

Fan Ye's Book of the Later Han says: In the first year of the Yongning reign era, the king of the state of Shan among the southwestern barbarians came to the imperial palace to present music and illusionists. They could work transformations, spew fire, dismember their own limbs, and exchange the heads of oxen and horses. The following year, at the New Year's Day assembly, they performed in the courtyard. Emperor An and all his ministers watched together, marveling greatly at them.
