64.68

當發行慈心　念怨如善友
展轉在生死　悉曾為親族
譬如樹生華　轉成果無異
父母妻子友　宗親亦如是
其行慈心者　等意無憎愛
不問於遠近　乃應為大慈
等心行大哀　及至三界人
行慈如是者　其德逾梵天
刀刃不能害　縣官及火怨
邪思諸羅剎　蛇蚖電霹靂
師子并象虎　及餘諸害利
一切不敢近　無能中傷者

One should generate and practice a mind of loving-kindness,
Mindful of enemies as good friends.
Revolving successively in saṃsāra,
All have once been one's kin.
Just as a tree brings forth blossoms,
Which in turn become fruits, not different,
Parents, wives, children, and friends,
And kinsmen are likewise so.
One who practices loving-kindness
Has an equal mind without hatred or affection;
Not asking whether near or far,
Only this should be great loving-kindness.
With an equal mind practicing great pity,
Extending even to the people of the three realms—
One who practices loving-kindness in this way
Has virtue surpassing the Brahmā heaven.
Blades cannot harm them,
Nor officials or the peril of fire,
Nor evil-minded rākṣasas,
Serpents, vipers, lightning, or thunderbolts.
Lions, elephants, and tigers,
And all other harmful things—
None dare approach them,
And none can inflict harm upon them.
