又如鉢頭摩地獄中火焰熾盛。罪人去此火一百由旬。火已燒炙。若去六十由旬。罪人兩耳已聾無所聞知。若去火五十由旬。其罪人兩目已盲無所復見。如瞿波利比丘已懷惡心謗舍利弗目揵連。身壞命終墮此鉢頭摩地獄中。

Furthermore, in the Paduma Hell, the flames rage furiously. When a sinner is still one hundred yojanas away from this fire, the fire already scorches them. If they are sixty yojanas away, both ears of the sinner become deaf, hearing nothing. If they are fifty yojanas away from the fire, both eyes of the sinner become blind, seeing nothing at all. For example, because the monk Kokālika harbored an evil mind and slandered Śāriputra and Maudgalyāyana, when his body broke up at the end of his life, he fell into this Paduma Hell.
