昭王二十年。牝馬生子而死。劉向以為馬禍也。故京房易傳曰。方伯分威。厥妖牝馬生子。上無天子。諸侯相伐。厥妖馬生人也。

In the twentieth year of King Zhao, a mare gave birth to an offspring and died. Liu Xiang considered this a 'horse disaster.' Thus the Yi Zhuan by Jing Fang states: 'When the regional chiefs divide authority, the anomaly is a mare giving birth to an offspring. When there is no Son of Heaven above and the feudal lords attack one another, the anomaly is a horse giving birth to a human.'
