During the Huangchu era of the Wei dynasty, a hawk was born in a swallow's nest, with both its beak and talons being red. In the Qinglong era, Emperor Ming built the Lingxiao Gate; just as it was being constructed, a magpie built a nest upon it. The emperor asked Gaotang Long about it, who replied: 'The Book of Songs says, "The magpie has a nest; the dove occupies it." This is an image indicating that before the palace is completed, one will not be able to dwell in it oneself.' (The twelve verifications above are taken from the Soushen yiji.)
