In the Jin dynasty, General-in-Chief Wang Dun wrongfully executed Diao Xuanliang. When Dun entered Shitou, he dreamed that a white dog descended from the sky and bit him. After returning to Gushu, he fell ill. In broad daylight, he saw Diao riding in a light carriage, escorted by attendants and soldiers, raising his head with closed eyes; when Diao entered to arrest Dun, Dun was terrified, sought to flee but could not escape, and died. In Hejian, two garrison soldiers, Zhang Lu and Jing Kuang, were on good terms with each other. On the fifth day of the fifth month of the fourteenth year of the Taiyuan era of the Jin dynasty, they climbed Mount Zhong together and sat upon the summit. Lu, drunk and pale with rage, drew his sword and decapitated Kuang. That evening, Kuang's mother dreamed that Kuang said he had been killed by Lu, his corpse thrown into a ravine, with his trousers stripped off to cover his belly; when she searched for him, he would be hard to find, but he would make the trousers fly up to reveal the location. The next morning, when they went to search and arrest, everything was just as he had said. Lu, knowing that the deed was exposed, planned to flee, but whenever he stepped out the door, he saw Kuang holding two swords aimed at his face, so he could not leave. The mother fully reported this to the authorities, and Lu submitted to his punishment.
