75.68

又佛說須賴經云。佛言。夫妄言者。為自欺身亦欺他人。妄言者。令人身臭。心口無信。令其心惱。妄言者。令其口臭。令其身危。天神所棄。妄言者。亡失一切諸善本。於己愚冥迷失善路。妄言者。一切惡本。斷絕善行閑居之本。又正法念經。閻羅王責疏罪人說偈云。

Furthermore, the Scripture on Suratā Spoken by the Buddha says: The Buddha said: He who speaks falsehood deceives his own person and also deceives others. One who speaks falsehood causes his body to foully stench; his mind and speech lack trustworthiness, and he causes his mind distress. One who speaks falsehood causes his mouth to foully stench and brings danger to his person, being abandoned by the devas and spirits. One who speaks falsehood loses all the roots of goodness; in his own foolish blindness, he loses the good path. One who speaks falsehood possesses the root of all evils, cutting off good deeds and the basis for secluded dwelling. Furthermore, in the Scripture on the Mindfulness of the True Dharma, King Yama rebukes the sinners, speaking in verse:
