76.14

又興起行經云。釋迦過去以惡語道。迦葉禿頭沙門何有佛道。故今六年受日食一麻一米大豆小豆苦行。

The *Xingqixing jing* also states: In the past, Śākyamuni spoke with harsh words, saying, 'How could a bald-headed śramaṇa like Kāśyapa have the Buddha's path?' Therefore, he now endured six years of ascetic practices, eating only one hemp seed, one grain of rice, large beans, and small beans a day.
