Zhou Zong of the Song was a man of Feiru in Guangling. In the seventh year of Yuanjia, he accompanied Liu Yanzhi on a northern expedition, but the royal army suffered defeat. He fled secretly along with six men from the same district. North of Pengcheng, they encountered an empty temple without any monks. Inside was an image that had a crystal ūrṇā. Thereupon they stole it together, went out to a village, and traded it for food. One of the men was frail and sick, and his companions disdained him, so he alone received no share. After they each returned home, over three or four years, Zong and the other five men consecutively fell ill with leprosy and died. Only the one who received no share was completely spared.
