8.104

菩薩在於此　開我等法眼
今者遠我去　如盲離導師
又如欲度水　忽然失橋船
亦似孾孤兒　喪亡其慈母
我等亦如是　失所歸依處
方漂生死流　了無有出緣
我等於長夜　為癡箭所射
既失大醫王　誰當救我者
滯臥無明床　長沒愛欲海
永斷尊者訓　未見超出期

“While the Bodhisattva was here, / He opened our Dharma eye. / Now that you depart far from us, / It is like the blind losing their guide. / Again, it is like wishing to cross water, / And suddenly losing bridge and boat; / It is also like an orphaned infant / Bereaved of its compassionate mother. / We too are like this, / Losing that in which we take refuge. / Just as we drift in the stream of birth and death, / There are no conditions for escape. / Throughout the long night, / We have been shot by the arrows of delusion; / Since we have lost the Great Physician King, / Who shall rescue us? / Stagnant, lying upon the bed of ignorance, / Perpetually submerged in the ocean of desire, / Forever severed from the Venerable One’s instruction, / We see no time of transcendence.”
