As the Nirvāṇa-sūtra says: When the Bodhisattva descended, the devas of the desire and form realms all came to escort him, uttering loud voices in praise of the Bodhisattva; the earth was made to shake by the wind of their breath. Also, the Samādhi of Recollecting the Buddha Sūtra says: When the Bodhisattva was about to descend into his mother's womb, the trichiliocosm completely underwent the six kinds of trembling. Also, the Sūtra of Causes and Effects says: At that time, when the Bodhisattva was about to descend into his mother's womb, he mounted a six-tusked white elephant and departed from Tuṣita Palace. Countless devas performed various kinds of music, burned various famed incenses, and scattered wonderful celestial flowers, following the Bodhisattva and filling empty space; he emitted a great light that illuminated the ten directions everywhere. On the eighth day of the fourth month, when the morning star appeared, his divine spirit descended into his mother's womb. At that time Queen Māyā, while asleep, saw the Bodhisattva mounting a six-tusked white elephant, soaring through empty space, and entering through her right flank. His body appeared on the outside as if situated in lapis lazuli. The queen's body felt at ease and happy, as if she had consumed ambrosia. Looking at her own body, it was like the illumination of the sun and moon; her mind was exceedingly joyful, leaping with immeasurable joy. Having seen this sign, she then awoke, gave rise to a thought of wonder, and then informed King Śuddhodana of this event in detail. At that time King Śuddhodana, seeing these auspicious omens, leapt with joy, unable to contain himself. He immediately summoned Brahmins skilled in physiognomy to divine it. They knew that the Bodhisattva, having dwelled in the womb and emerged, would become a Buddha, whose merits and benefits could not be fully described. At that time, the assembly of Tuṣita heaven thought: 'The Bodhisattva has already been born in the palace of King Śuddhodana. We too should descend to be born among humans. When the Bodhisattva becomes a Buddha, we may be among the first to become his retinue and hear the Dharma.' Having formed this thought, they immediately descended to be born; ninety-nine hundred million devas descended to be born among humans. Furthermore, from the Heaven of Mastery over Others' Transformations down to the Four Heavenly Kings, as well as the kings of the form realm heavens, together with their retinues, also descended to be born in incalculable numbers. While the Bodhisattva was in his mother's womb, his walking, standing, sitting, and reclining were without any impediment, nor did he cause his mother to suffer any distress. When dawn came, the Bodhisattva, from within the mother's womb, preached various dharmas to the devas of the form realm. When noon came, he preached the Dharma to the devas of the desire realm. In the late afternoon, he preached the Dharma to various ghosts and spirits. In the three watches of the night, it was also like this. (According to the Lalitavistara, while the Bodhisattva was in his mother's womb for ten months, he converted and instructed devas and people for thirty-six years, establishing them in the practices of the Śrāvaka and various Mahāyāna vehicles.) The Avataṃsaka-sūtra says: When the Bodhisattva was in his mother's womb, the sentient beings of the trichiliocosm universally saw the Bodhisattva in the womb just as one sees one's face in a bright mirror.
