81.33

若為自身造作衣服莊嚴之具種種器物。作已歡喜自未服用。持以施人。是人未來得如意樹。若有人能日日立要。先施他食。然後自食。若違此要誓輸佛物。犯則生愧。如其不違。即是微妙智慧因緣。如是施者諸施中最上。是人亦得名上施主。

"If, having made clothing, personal ornaments, and various vessels for oneself, and upon finishing them being joyful, one gives them to others before using them oneself, this person in the future will obtain a wish-fulfilling tree. If someone is able to make a daily resolution to always first give food to others before eating oneself, and if violating this resolution vows to forfeit property to the Buddha, feeling ashamed upon failing, but if not violating it, this is a wondrous cause and condition for wisdom. Giving of this kind is supreme among all gifts, and this person is also called a supreme donor."
