83.24

又毘婆沙論云。如二人俱至一方。一乘疾馬。一乘鈍馬。雖乘鈍馬。以前發故。先有所至。信解脫人。勤行精進。先至涅槃。即是周利等也。

Furthermore, the Mahāvibhāṣā-śāstra says: It is like two men traveling together to a region: one rides a swift horse, and one rides a slow horse. Although riding a slow horse, because he started out earlier, he arrives first. Those who are liberated by faith, by diligently practicing vigor, arrive first at nirvāṇa; this refers to Cūḍa[panthaka] and the like.
