依智度論。受云。我某甲今一日一夜。歸依佛。歸依法。歸依僧。為淨行優婆塞（女云夷三說）我某甲歸依佛竟。歸依法竟。歸依僧竟。一日一夜為淨行優婆塞竟（三說）。

According to the Mahāprajñāpāramitā-śāstra, the reception formula states: 'I, named so-and-so, now for one day and one night, take refuge in the Buddha, take refuge in the Dharma, and take refuge in the Saṃgha, becoming an upāsaka of pure conduct.' (Women say upāsikā; spoken three times.) 'I, named so-and-so, have taken refuge in the Buddha, have taken refuge in the Dharma, have taken refuge in the Saṃgha, having become an upāsaka of pure conduct for one day and one night.' (Spoken three times.)
