大德一心念。我先受得五戒為優婆（塞夷）今對大德捨却作在家白衣（一說便成八戒亦然）後若好心發時。欲更受戒應先懺前罪。後受亦得。

‘May the Virtuous One single-mindedly bear in mind: I previously received the five precepts as an upāsaka (or upāsikā); now before the Virtuous One, I renounce them to become a white-robed householder.’ (Stating this once suffices; it is the same for the eight precepts.) If later a wholesome mind arises and one wishes to receive the precepts again, one should first repent previous offenses, and receiving them afterward is also permissible.
