9.100

佛阿毘曇經云。以一千阿僧祇世界眾生所有功德。成佛一毛孔。如是成佛一毛孔功德遍如來身毛孔功德成佛一好。如是成就八十種好功德。增為百倍。乃成如來身上一相所。成就三十二相功德。增為千倍。乃成如來額上一白毫相。以一千毫相功德。增為百倍。乃成如來一頂骨相。一切飛天所不能見頂。如是不思議清淨功德聚成就佛身。是故如來於天人中最為尊勝。

The *Fo abhidharma-sūtra* states: With all the merits of the sentient beings of one thousand asaṃkhyeya worlds, one hair-pore of the Buddha is accomplished. With such merits that accomplish one hair-pore of the Buddha filling all the hair-pores across the Tathāgata's body, one secondary sign of the Buddha is accomplished. Multiplying the merits that accomplish the eighty secondary signs by a hundredfold accomplishes one primary mark on the Tathāgata's body. Multiplying the merits that accomplish the thirty-two marks by a thousandfold accomplishes the single white ūrṇā mark on the Tathāgata's forehead. Multiplying the merits of one thousand ūrṇā marks by a hundredfold accomplishes the single mark of the Tathāgata's cranial protuberance, an uṣṇīṣa that cannot be seen by any flying heavenly beings. Thus an inconceivable mass of pure merit accomplishes the Buddha's body; therefore, the Tathāgata is the most venerated and supreme among gods and humans.
