Furthermore, the Mahākāśyapa Sūtra says: The Buddha said to Maitreya, 'In the future degenerate age, the final five hundred years, there will be those who call themselves bodhisattvas but practice the ways of dogs. Just as a dog that first reaches another's house, upon seeing a subsequent dog arrive, gives rise to wrath, bares its teeth and barks at it, generating the thought in its mind: "This is my house," a bhikṣu is also like this. First reaching the home of another donor, he conceives the thought that it is his own home. Coveting this thought, when he sees a subsequent bhikṣu, he glares at him with angry eyes, gives rise to jealousy and wrath in his heart, and slanders him, saying: "Such-and-such bhikṣu has such faults; you must not draw close to him." Giving rise to jealousy, he practices the cause of hungry ghosts and the cause of poverty, which is included within the stinginess of households among the five kinds of stinginess in the Tattvasiddhi-śāstra.'
