92.18

又迦葉經云。時五百比丘云。我等不能精進。恐不能消信施供養。請乞歸俗。文殊師利菩薩讚言。若不能消信施之食。寧可一日數百歸俗。不應一日破戒受人信施。爾時世尊告文殊師利菩薩言。善男子。若有修禪解脫者。我聽彼人受信施食。

Furthermore, the Kāśyapa-sūtra states: At that time five hundred bhikṣus said, 'We are unable to be vigorous, and we fear we cannot digest offerings given in faith; we request to return to lay life.' Mañjuśrī Bodhisattva praised them, saying, 'If one cannot digest food given in faith, it is better to return to lay life hundreds of times in a single day rather than break the precepts for a single day while receiving offerings given in faith from others.' Then the World-Honored One said to Mañjuśrī Bodhisattva, 'Good man, if there are those who cultivate dhyāna and liberation, I permit those persons to receive food given in faith.'
