92.41

爾時世尊復告僧護。汝見肉臺者。實非肉臺。是地獄人。迦葉佛時。是出家人當僧房敷具。閉僧房門。將僧戶鑰四方游行。眾僧於後不得敷具及諸房舍。以是因緣故入地獄。作大肉臺火燒受苦。至今不息。

Then the World-Honoured One further told Saṃgharakṣita: 'The platform of flesh you saw was actually not a platform of flesh, but a person in hell. In the time of Kāśyapa Buddha, he was a renunciant who was in charge of the Saṃgha's bedding and rooms. He locked the doors of the Saṃgha's rooms, took the keys of the Saṃgha's doors, and went wandering through the four quarters, so that the Saṃgha subsequently had neither bedding nor rooms. Because of these causes and conditions, he entered hell and became a great platform of flesh, burned by fire and enduring suffering without ceasing down to the present day.'
