The sixth clarifies that a person who eats meat cannot even accomplish worldly incantations, let alone supermundane dharmas—how could they ever be realized? Therefore practitioners should not eat meat. As that sūtra states: "If worldly sorcerers of wrong views eat meat, their spells will not succeed. In order to accomplish even heterodox arts, they still do not eat meat; how much less can my disciples, seeking the Tathāgata's unexcelled noble path and supermundane liberation, cultivating great loving-kindness and compassion with diligent austerities, still fearing they will not attain it—where could there ever be such liberation attained as a reward by those foolish people eating meat? For this reason, Mahāmati, all my disciples, seeking the bliss of supermundane liberation, should not eat meat."
