"Great King, the prince is now
sitting upright beneath the shade of the rose-apple tree,
cross-legged in contemplation, having entered samādhi;
his brilliant radiance shines like a sun-mountain.
He is truly a great man:
the tree's shadow stands firm and does not shift.
Would that the Great King go see for himself
how the prince sits and what his marks are like!
He is like the Great Brahmā king of gods,
and like Indra, lord of gods in the Trāyastriṃśa heaven;
his awe-inspiring majesty is sublime, his light ablaze,
shining everywhere through those woods."
