In the Song, at Mount Lu, there was the monk Huiqing, a native of Guangling. He left home and stayed at Mount Lu Temple. His learning encompassed the sūtras and vinaya; he was pure and possessed disciplined conduct. He recited the Lotus Sūtra, Daśabhūmika, Viśeṣacintā, and Vimalakīrti. Whenever he chanted at night, he often heard the sound of snapping fingers and praises from the darkness. He once encountered violent wind and waves at Xiaolei, and the boat was about to capsize. Qing only recited sūtras without ceasing. He felt the boat amid the waves as if someone were pulling it, and suddenly it reached the shore. Thereupon he redoubled his diligence with earnest exertion. At the end of the Yuanjia era of the Song, he died at the age of sixty-two.
