Under the Northern Qi at Yexia, the śramaṇa Yuantong of the Great Zhuangyan Temple moved a holy monk during the summer to listen to his lectures. When the summer retreat concluded with the pravāraṇā ceremony, the monk took his leave and invited Yuantong, saying that he was at the Zhulin Temple and asked him to visit. Yuantong asked in detail about the route, and the following year he went seeking it. East of that mountain and northwest of Ye, the holy monk welcomed him. He fully saw the gates open, the rooms and halls spacious and magnificent, and the trees dense and vast. Having stayed overnight and wandered throughout, finding that in spirit and word they harmonized in the Way, he had the thought of remaining there until the end of his days. The holy monk inquired on his behalf with the Great Upādhyāya, but [the latter] did not permit it. When he returned along his old path, beyond three li he looked back, but could see nothing. Those who went later did not know where it was.
