Ever since the Great Awakened One entered nirvāṇa, merit has reverted to the multitude of saints. Bodhisattvas and arhats propagate the teachings of the final era; they fly across and transform the numerous kṣetras, gathering and guiding beings according to conditions. When sympathy differs, those in the same room are separated as by heaven; when resonance harmonizes, those in different realms come face to face. Therefore, if one respects a single monk, the five eyes are opened and purified; if one bestows a single fine hair, the six pāramitās become inexhaustible.
