"Good and evil, perfumed from past lives,
bring retributions that vary in each realm.
One was once a ghost harmed by an enemy,
or became a wolf seeking vengeance with disaster.
The butcher remembers his slaughtering karma;
Sumati played in the home of monkeys.
Those whose past blessings dispel distress
roam in heavenly halls wherever they are.
Meeting different categories, pure occasions arise;
gazing upon them, both are completely forgotten.
Mortals and sages revere the fine assembly;
worthy and foolish rejoice in enduring fragrance.
The four modes of birth practice good karma;
the six destinies are moved by divine light.
Although suffering and pleasure are different,
all alike know the brevity or length of life."
