First, among the deva realm: according to the Vibhāṣā-śāstra, there is also knowledge gained from one's place of rebirth that knows the minds of others, and so on. However, because it is subtle, it is not expounded separately, as it has already been fully expounded above under heavenly retributions, and is likewise described below under the realms of animals and ghosts. Therefore, the Vibhāṣā-śāstra states: 'Why is this? Because it is not a proper vessel of a field. Because it is covered and impaired by superior forms of knowledge such as observing signs and hearing speech, and because it is eclipsed and obscured by the supernormal knowledge of others' minds, knowledge born of aspiration, and so forth.' The judgment states: 'One should explain it thus: knowledge gained from one's place of rebirth among the four destinies each knows all five destinies; this does not contradict reason.'
