28.20

The utmost sage operates in secret, / Without thought and without cognition.
His divine efficacy conceals its splendor; / The worthy and the foolish can hardly fathom it.
Good and evil dwell together; / Ascending and sinking share the same appearance.
Contemplating and awakening upon confronting matters, / He knows that the spirit is concealed.
Dwelling amidst defilement yet unstained, / Abandoning dust, he finds rest.
Were it not for his profound insight, / Who could kindle it to the utmost?
Reflecting upon one's own folly and sloth, / One looks up with admiration, seeking equal virtue;
For ten thousand generations spreading renown, / For a thousand ages manifesting the power of merit.
