Furthermore, the Sarvāstivāda-vinaya states: "When a monk of Jambudvīpa travels to Aparagodānīya, he follows the time of Jambudvīpa; when a monk of Aparagodānīya goes to the other three continents, it is likewise. If one stays overnight here, one uses the time of this place; if one stays overnight there, one uses the time of that place. It is the same for the other three continents." Therefore, the Mātṛkā-śāstra asks: "Can one eat at an improper time without committing an offense?" The answer is: "Yes. If one resides in Uttarakuru and follows their mealtime, one does not commit an offense. The same applies to the other continents. When it is noon in Jambudvīpa, it is midnight in the north, sunset in the east, and sunrise in the west. The mutual rotation of the other continents can be understood from this."
