Furthermore, the Saṃyuktaratnapiṭaka-sūtra states: In the past, in the village of Gudāna in the kingdom of Kāmaka, there was an old mother who had an only son. Her son was rebellious and did not cultivate benevolence and filial piety. Because of anger at his mother, he raised his hand toward her and struck her a single blow. That very day he traveled abroad, encountered bandits, and had one arm broken. The transgression of unfilial behavior immediately received its visible retribution; such was its painful suffering, and the subsequent suffering in hell is beyond calculation.
