The function of this mantra: When one recites it once, the karmic obstacles accumulated over a thousand kalpas are entirely removed and exhausted, and one immediately attains the wholesome roots accumulated by a thousand Buddhas. One shall turn one's back on the extremes of birth, old age, sickness, and death within transmigration across a thousand kalpas. Having transformed this life, one will see a thousand wheel-turning kings (cakravartin). If one wishes to be reborn in a pure Buddha land, three times by day and three times by night, in each period recite it twenty-one times. When reaching twenty-one days, one will obtain according to one's wish whatever one desires. If one sees a golden image of a Buddha or a form of a bodhisattva, that is an auspicious sign beforehand. After one's life ends, one will be reborn amidst the great assembly of bodhisattvas.
