If there are monks, nuns, laymen, or laywomen, they should constantly with utmost sincerity receive, uphold, read, recite, and cultivate according to the instruction. Practicing this method of upholding: one should dwell in quiet solitude, bathe the body, put on new clean garments, eat plain vegetarian food, not consuming meat, wine, or the five pungent roots. One should cultivate pure conduct (brahmacarya), and make offerings of fine incense and flowers to Amitābha Tathāgata and the assembly of great bodhisattvas in the Buddha's place of practice. One should constantly in this way focus the mind, tether mindfulness, and generate the vow seeking rebirth in the World of Peace and Joy, diligent and unflagging. In accordance with one's wish, one will certainly attain rebirth.
