Now, the holy Path is empty and tranquil; hence it can respond perfectly without fixed bounds. Because its response has no fixed bounds, there is nowhere its response does not reach. Lately, yin and yang have fallen out of season, and severe drought has accumulated for a long period. The rituals of the northern wall have long been presented, yet the rain at the western suburb has not responded. The Holy Emperor grieves that the myriads of commoners have lost their livelihoods, and fears that the crops will not ripen. He curtails his meals, takes pity in administering punishments, dresses before dawn, and dines late into the night. His sincere devotion reaches above and below, and jade and silk are offered everywhere across the mountains and rivers. Yet the numinous moisture has not dampened [the earth], and prayer clouds rarely gather. Respectfully we contemplate that the torch of wisdom shines secretly, illuminating everything in darkness; its spiritual efficacy is unfathomable, and wherever there is sympathetic resonance, it unfailingly penetrates. Therefore, we respectfully rely upon the Three Jewels, expound the One Vehicle, chant and recite the profound words, and plant this great blessing. We pray that the teaching of the Dharma will freshly open, and the clouds of compassion spread far and wide; once the profound words are expounded, the abundant moisture will extend afar. May auspicious grain flourish continuously across the suburban plains, and auspicious fruits grow abundantly upon the trees of the forest. For clothing, may there only be the produce of the eight silkworms; for food, may there certainly be the supply of the seven harvests. May the world be fragrant as the Realm of Many Fragrances, and sentient beings tranquil as the Land of Peace and Sustenance. May no request fail to be accomplished, and every prayer unfailingly be answered. May all bathe in this water of samādhi, carry on the source of sagely wisdom, cast open this net of craving, and transcend the realm of existence and non-existence.
