Furthermore, the *Bodhisattvapiṭaka Sūtra* states: "Ānanda, now in this Bamboo Grove I turn this irreversibility wheel of the Bodhisattvapiṭaka Sūtra to cut through the doubts of all sentient beings. Ānanda, past Buddhas also all expounded the Bodhisattvapiṭaka Sūtra in this realm of space. Ānanda, any sentient beings bound by greed, anger, and delusion who enter this Bamboo Grove do not give rise to greed, anger, or delusion. When flocks of birds enter it, they do not cry out untimely. When King Bimbisāra entered this grove together with his palace attendants to enjoy themselves, he found himself spontaneously free from desire, and the women were likewise so. At that time the king rejoiced and continually had this thought: 'May there be a Buddha in the world! I shall offer this grove to the Buddha, so that the Buddha may dwell within it and I may hear the Dharma. Why is this? Only one worthy of offerings ought to dwell in this grove; it is not a place where people of the five desires should be allowed to abide.' This grove has no vipers, serpents, centipedes, gnats, horseflies, or venomous stingers. If one abides within it, one no longer possesses a venomous mind. This, too, is an uncommon merit of the Bamboo Grove."
