The Capable and Benevolent One pities illusory suffering;
The sage's mind mourns the profound darkness.
Pitying the foolish, he initiates acceptance;
Instructing and guiding, he opens skillful means.
The dharmakāya pervades the dharmadhātu;
Taking physical manifestation, it points to the Jetavana.
Together melting the fetters of the five destinies,
Together untying the malice of the four Māras.
The three cultivations banish the horse of craving;
The six recollections still the monkey of the mind.
The dhyāna pool clarifies the water of samādhi;
The factors of awakening stir with clamorous sound.
The wind of wisdom beats the Dharma drum,
Shaking the root of our ignorance.
One must always draw near to good friends,
Who open up for us what has never been spoken.
