“I shall cause you to be freed,
To return to the mountain forest;
Yet I fear by the ways of a monkey,
Your old habits will arise again.”
Then that ṛṣi spoke of their past deeds:
“Turtle, in a past life,
You were once named Kāśyapa;
Monkey, in a past life,
You were named Kauṇḍinya.
Having already engaged in lustful conduct,
Now you may cut off this condition;
Kāśyapa, release Kauṇḍinya,
And let him return to the mountain forest.”
