'As for the eighth intermediate existence: when a person of Uttarakuru is approaching the end of life, signs appear. They see parks, groves, and places of recreation, fragrant, pure, and delightful; smelling them brings joy and pleasure, without much suffering or distress, and their mind is not turbid. With a pure mind they immediately ascend to a palace, seeing hosts of devas wandering through empty space, as if in a dream. The Trāyastriṃśa Heaven is supreme and delightful, fully endowed with all five desires. Dying from Uttarakuru, they are born among these devas. This is called the eighth intermediate existence of the signs at death of a person of Uttarakuru being born in this heavenly realm through habituated recreation.'
