The first is right faith in cause and effect, being neither deluded nor mistaken: doing good brings blessings, doing evil brings punishment; though there is no agent, karmic retribution is never lost; though [dharmas] perish from moment to moment, karma does not fail or vanish. Faith is the source of the Way, and wisdom is that which can enter it. Being both wise and faithful is the root of all goods. By means of this right faith, one overturns and shatters the unfaithful mind of the icchantika. Only by possessing this mind can one arouse repentance.
