The Buddha told the monks: I have two bodies: first, the physical body; second, the precept body. If a good son were to erect a seven-jeweled stūpa reaching up to the Brahmā heaven for my physical body, and someone damaged it, that offense would still be pardonable. But if one damages my precept body, the offense is immeasurable, and one receives punishment like the dragon king Elāpatra; he commits an unpardonable offense.
