According to the Mahāprajñāpāramitā-sūtra (fascicle 473): "Oneself receiving and upholding the path of the ten wholesome karmas; also encouraging others to receive and uphold the path of the ten wholesome karmas; unerringly praising the method of receiving and upholding the path of the ten wholesome karmas; and rejoicing in and praising those who receive and uphold the path of the ten wholesome karmas." (The five precepts, eight precepts, monastic precepts, and so forth are all likewise received oneself and encouraged for others to uphold.) Furthermore, the Wenshu wen jing says: "Mañjuśrī addressed the Buddha, saying: 'How many kinds of supramundane precepts are there?' The Buddha told Mañjuśrī: 'If with the mind one discriminates men, women, non-men, non-women, and so forth, this bodhisattva commits a pārājika.'
