If a disciple of the Buddha speaks with one's own mouth of the faults and offenses of renunciant or householder bodhisattvas, bhikṣus, or bhikṣuṇīs, or encourages others to speak of their faults and offenses; through the causes of [speaking of] offenses, the karma of [speaking of] offenses, the methods of [speaking of] offenses, or the conditions of [speaking of] offenses. When a bodhisattva hears non-Buddhists and evil people, as well as evil people of the two vehicles, speak of non-dharma and non-vinaya within the Buddha's Dharma, one should constantly give rise to a compassionate mind, teaching and transforming those evil people to lead them to generate wholesome faith in the Mahāyāna. If the bodhisattva on the contrary speaks oneself of the faults and offenses within the Buddha's Dharma, this is the bodhisattva's sixth pārājika offense.
