'That the Tathāgata's hands and feet bear Dharma-wheels—this mark of a great personage—is because in ancient kalpas I set up many various kinds of gifts. That the Tathāgata, the Truly Realized One, has slender and long fingers—this mark of a great personage—is because in ancient kalpas I separately explained the scriptural meanings and rescued and protected sentient beings so that they had no distress. That the Tathāgata's hands and feet have webbed membranes—this mark of a great personage—is because in ancient kalpas I never disrupted others' retinues. That the Tathāgata's hands and feet are soft and delicate—this mark of a great personage—is because in ancient kalpas I gave through wisdom various types of clothing and fine, soft garments. That the Tathāgata has seven full areas—this mark of a great personage—is because in ancient kalpas I broadly made manifold gifts to supply those who lacked. That the Tathāgata's knees are upright and seamless, and his shanks are like an antelope's—this mark of a great personage—is because in ancient kalpas I received and upheld the scriptures without violation or loss. That the Tathāgata's privy parts are concealed like a horse's—this mark of a great personage—is because in ancient kalpas I was prudent with my body and stayed far away from lustful practices. That the Tathāgata's cheeks are full like a lion's—this mark of a great personage—is because in ancient kalpas I broadly cultivated pure karma and brought my practice to completion.'
